Kidney Donor Ran Twelve Marathons After Donating a Kidney
Matt Cavanaugh, a 44-year-old retired military veteran, completed the Hartford Marathon, one of twelve marathons he ran last year, just two years after donating a kidney. In an interview with NBC CT, Cavanaugh said he is putting his body to the test for a reason.
"I'm out here to show people there's no limit to what you can do after you donate a kidney," said Cavanaugh, who donated a kidney two years ago to a complete stranger. "I knew that at a relatively very low risk to myself, I could give someone else life."
