Award Ceremony - April 23, 2021

This is DLC’s 31st Annual Erica Grossman High School Visual Arts Contest.  Since 1990, tens of thousands of high school students have participated in the Donate Life Connecticut’s Annual Visual Arts Contest, and we are inviting you to showcase the creativity and talent of your students by encouraging their participation in this year’s program.  Prizes for winning submissions include:

  • 1st Place:  $100 Gift Card

  • 2nd Place:  $75 Gift Card

  • 3rd Place:  $50 Gift Card

  • Tony Award: Cash Prize

  • Teacher Prize: The teacher of the 1st Place Winner will be awarded a $50 gift card

Why is it important to get this life-saving message to high school students?

The contest is intended to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation, and the importance of becoming a registered donor.  Donation and transplantation can affect anyone.  With most Connecticut students applying for their driver’s license or state ID at the age of 16, our goal—by encouraging students to create a poster, photography piece, or video message—is for students to be better informed about organ donation and the donor registry when asked if they want to be a registered organ and tissue donor at the DMV.

This year, due to continued COVID-19 concerns, awards will be virtually presented for selected submissions on April 23, 2021, as an ending celebration during National Donate Life Month (April). In addition to first, second, and third place winners, a special Tony Award is also presented to one student in memory of a young man who passed away while waiting for a transplant.

Below, you’ll find information detailing the contest rules and requirements, examples of past winners, and the submission form that must be adhered to the back of each submission.

In collaboration with the Annual Visual Arts Contest, Donate Life Connecticut offers you the opportunity to invite organ and tissue transplantation professionals into the classroom for an in-house presentation designed for students, offering information on donation and the role that each individual can play in saving and improving the quality of life of others.
