April 29, 2020
Dear Gala Supporter,
All of us at Donate Life Connecticut are hoping that this email finds you well and healthy. During the past few months, we have seen first-hand how times have changed, and the impact on non-profit organizations such as ours. With that said, we regretfully inform you that we will be canceling the 2020 Gala most recently rescheduled for July of this year. It will not be rescheduled in 2020. The next Donate Life Connecticut Gala will be November 19, 2021.
We came to this difficult decision after careful consideration of the current health guidelines and, most importantly, concerns for the health and well-being of our transplant community.
The COVID-19 crisis has affected so many businesses and organizations, including Donate Life Connecticut. Canceling our Gala will have a direct effect on our financial situation as it is our largest fundraiser. As some of you know, we had previously canceled our Bowl For Life event in March, and furthermore, we have put our Toast To Life event on hold, planning instead for a virtual celebration in the coming months. With two of our three major fundraisers canceled it is more important than ever to thank everyone who has supported our organization in the past and especially in 2020.
We at Donate Life Connecticut will continue to work on our mission and vision to increase the number of registered organ donors in Connecticut. Given our new normal we will begin to transition our focus from in-person outreach events and presentations to online and virtual programs and projects. We will continue to work on our school curriculum project as well as our digital advertising campaign which includes raising awareness of organ donation through billboards and other media outlets.
Our organization relies on the donations and support from our community and our fundraising events. Knowing there will be limited fundraising opportunities this year, we ask if you would consider making a donation to support our organization. If so, please go to our website, www.DonateLifeCt.com, to make a donation. Your financial support will help fund these projects and our continuing efforts to educate residents about organ and tissue donation.
We thank you in advance for your financial support.
Those of you who purchased a ticket to the 2020 Gala will be receiving a separate email this week with instructions on how to donate the value of your tickets, receive a credit towards the next Gala, or request a refund.
We are so proud of our healthcare workers who have been amazing throughout this crisis. We are inspired by families who have made the lifesaving decision to donate organs during this difficult time. We also recognize our recipient families for supporting our most vulnerable community members’ efforts to stay healthy while in quarantine. Donate Life Connecticut has heard so many amazing stories of families coming together to keep our patients safe. Let’s continue to support each other. This will be a very difficult year. But we can do it. Thank you to all of our loyal supporters. We appreciate you more than you know.

Organ and tissue donation advocates will dance their hearts out at our Dancing for Donations Gala! They dance to help to support our mission to increase the number of registered donors in Connecticut through education and outreach.
They team up with a dance instructor at Arthur Murray to learn a choreographed ballroom routine during ten private lessons. The couples competed for “votes” (1 dollar = 1 vote) and all donations go to support the work of DLC. Thank you all for your support!
